Reflection 02 · Humility & Impact

Make room at the table.

The story

At a dinner, Jesus watches guests compete for the best seats. He tells them to take a lower place instead of claiming importance. Then He turns to the host: when you throw a party, invite the people who can’t pay you back.

Why it matters

We apply this to leadership by examining both our desire for recognition and whom we make room for. Humility can shape how we share credit, listen, and use influence. Service can reach people who have nothing to offer us in return.

These are questions about how we lead, not a technique for securing a better seat.

Try this week

  1. In your team, workplace, or community, where are you most concerned with being recognized?
  2. Whose contribution or perspective could you acknowledge more fully?
  3. Whom could you serve this week without expecting visibility, access, or repayment?
Choose one act of service:

I will make room for ______ by ______. I will do it without expecting ______.
