Undeniable Courage
FoundationTelemachus
Step into the arena.
According to the church historian Theodoret, a monk named Telemachus traveled to Rome and entered an arena where gladiators were fighting. He tried to stop them. The crowd, furious at the interruption, stoned him to death. Theodoret links his death to Emperor Honorius’s decision to stop gladiatorial combat.
The Lesson
Build on what is true, then stand for it when the crowd moves the other way.
