What are you actually building on?

The question

What do your recent decisions show you’re actually building on?

Why this question

Most of us can say what we believe. Fewer of us check whether our choices agree. What do your recent decisions suggest about what you rely on, especially when something has to give?

The evidence

You don’t need a test for this. You need an honest look at the last two weeks.

  1. Your calendar. When time ran short, what got protected and what got moved?
  2. Your money. Where did it go without much thought?
  3. Your hard calls. When two good things competed, which one won, and what decided it?
  4. Your reactions. What made you defensive, anxious, or proud? What was at stake in those moments?

Which choices reflected your priorities, and which reflected responsibilities or constraints?

What this isn’t asking

This isn’t a score, and it isn’t about whether you’ve been good enough. Nobody’s grading you. If you notice a gap, describe it without turning it into a verdict.

Your answer

Write it in one sentence, in your own words. Then leave it for a day before you decide what to do with it.

Based on my recent decisions, I’m building on ______.

Go further

Built on Him. Built to become.
